Jess Wilson, MA/LADC-MH

 

Jess graduated from University of Central Oklahoma with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology-Substance Abuse Studies and Masters of Arts in Substance Abuse Studies.

She is a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor/Mental Health  (LADC-MH License #1321) who is passionate about helping others to overcome their addictions and mental health issues.

Jess is a professional member of National Association of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors (#179246), Oklahoma Drug and Alcohol Professional Counseling Association, Association for Size Diversity and Health, and Oklahoma Eating Disorder Association.

Jess’s own personal recovery story has led her on her path to being a LADC-MH therapist that values holistic health and lifestyle medicine. Jess has been living a whole food plant based (WFPB) lifestyle for over four years which is a part of her recovery path. Her WFPB lifestyle path led her to discovering an excitement of helping others who struggle with the mindset changes necessary when overcoming years of diet culture toxicity, societal influences, and negative self-talk.

Jess is a Health At Every Size® (HAES®) provider. She follows your guidance on the path to recovery you want to take. She knows that while you can find Health At Every Size®, you may still be struggling with the body you are in. As a larger body therapist, Jess knows what it’s like to leave in a society that doesn’t make it easy. She knows that you can love your body and self but still want to lose weight. Jess is a disordered eating therapists that strives to help you still lose the weight but decrease disordered eating patterns.

Jess has always been a teacher at heart. She is driven by wanting to see LADC-MH professionals flourish. Jess is dedicated to helping new LADC-MH, LADC, and CADC professionals starting out through license supervision. She enjoys researching on out of the box topics and providing presentations that create discussions or innovative thinking in the field. Jess experiences joy when helping other professionals learn more about addictions. She is a strong advocated for LADC-MH professionals in Oklahoma and addiction professionals nationally.

Outside of work, Jess enjoys being creative either in the kitchen with WFPB recipes or crocheting. She enjoys reading fantasy, non-fiction, and professional development books. She can also be found cuddling with her furbabies, playing video games with her husband, engaging in yoga/DDPY, or going on hikes with friends. Her supports are her husband, family, friends, and the wonderful WFPB support group peeps.
