Emotional or Disordered Eating

Emotions are tricky little buggers who can make life stressors harder to cope with when we have been taught unhealthy coping skills.

Sometimes we are taught by our mothers when they took us to weekly weight clubs or we got a high of sorts from our favorite treat/snack.

Either way, we learned to associate emotions to food and food to emotions.

Our brains became rewired similarly to how it happens with other addictions. Food addictions or struggles are difficult because we need food to survive.

Overcoming these battles can happen within therapy.

Food Mindset

When making lifestyle changes, our bodies and minds often battle each other. Our minds try to trick us into thinking that this change is not what we need. There’s that saying that it takes 21 days to form a habit. That’s true but it takes longer than 21 days to change your mindset. Especially if it has been conditioned to be your worst enemy for years. Mindset work is crucial when making lifestyle changes.
